VHPRC CAMP 2026

And that’s a wrap on another successful VHPRC residential camp at the lovely Stockland Lovell!

We were fortunate to be joined by our amazing club instructors, Annie Gallie and Anthony Perkins, who brought confidence, encouragement, expertise, and, of course, plenty of laughter throughout the weekend.

The introduction of new hacking routes gave us even more opportunities to explore and enjoy some glorious weather while out riding.

Camp wouldn’t be camp without the fun and games! From silly competitions to line dancing (thanks to our in-house expert Laura Wiltshire, who somehow managed to get us all moving in roughly the same direction!), there was laughter everywhere. Much of the entertainment throughout the weekend also came courtesy of our winner of the Most Entertaining award, Hazel Britton!

Our Most Improved awards went to both Laura Wiltshire and Melita Harper. These were so well deserved, and it was a pleasure to watch their confidence and growth. Our Most Helpful award was presented to Glenda Saunders, whose support is always appreciated.

We also had the pleasure of welcoming Jamie from TopSpec, who brought along the weighbridge and shared his impressive knowledge of feeding and supplements to help keep our horses slim, fit, muscled, and feeling their very best. It’s a shame we don’t apply the same principles to ourselves!

No camp write-up would be complete without a huge thank you to the person who pulled it all together: Kim Saunders. From managing indecisive members, changing groups, horse allocations, room queries, and countless other requests — and that was just me! — Kim handled it all with her usual patience and efficiency.

Thank you, Kimmy! You did a sterling job, as always. Every year somehow manages to be even better than the last.

Finally, we’d like to give a special mention to our camp newbies. We really hope you enjoyed yourselves as much as we did. It’s such a pleasure to be part of a club where everyone is so supportive, welcoming, and encouraging of one another.
