What an amazing (and long!) day we had at Aston Le Walls for the BRC SEIB Combined Training Championships!
Our team of three – Jess Hawes, Charlotte Alford, and Kate Stenner – put in fantastic performances to finish an incredible 6th out of 27 teams! Sadly, I couldn’t compete with Dinkie this time due to a field injury that made it uncomfortable for her to wear a bridle, but I was thrilled to go along and support the team.
Kate Ella and I hit the road early to make it in time for Jess’s test and to cheer everyone on. Jess was first up, having left her yard at 4:45 am (true dedication!), and she produced a super dressage test with Royal for a score of 32, followed by a brilliant clear round showjumping to finish on her dressage score and secure 3rd place individually.
Next was Kate with Brenin – another lovely test for 36.3, and another clear round to finish on that score and take 9th place. Finally, Charlotte and Josie delivered a beautiful test for 33, and were unlucky to have one pole down in the jumping to finish on 37 and 10th place.
At the end of a very long but rewarding day, Kate Ella and I took our turn helping in the showjumping arena for two hours. (As many will know, all teams must provide helpers at the Championships – otherwise we’d face disqualification!)
A huge thank you goes to our helpers and supporters who travelled up with the riders – Ros Steward, Deb Vickery, and Charlie – your support made all the difference!
What a fantastic result for our club – a true team effort from start to finish. Congratulations to everyone involved! 🎉
